    Generic Arimidex (anastrozole) is an anti-cancer medication, prescribed to postmenopausal women diagnosed with breast cancer of certain types. It lowers the level of estrogen in one's body.     Generally, Generic Arimidex is taken daily for an extended period of time, which might reach up to five years. Individual prescriptions will depend on your condition and should be defined by your medical specialist.

  • Side effects

    DO not use the medication if you are allergic to it. If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.

    Contact your medical specialist immediately if you experience any of the following: one-sided numbness or weakness of the body; severe headache, confusion, impeded vision, speech, or balance; bone fractures; swollen glands, hands or feet; shortage of breath;nausea, stomach ache, loss of appetite, itching sensation; dark urine, clay-colored stools; jaundice (yellowing of the skin or eyes); skin reaction with high temperature, sore throat, swollen face or tongue, burning sensation in the eyes, skin pain and rash of yellow or red color that spreads (especially in the face or torso) and leads to blistering and peeling.

  • Precautions

    Taking Generic Arimidex may lead to mental slow down. It is not recommended to take this medication before driving or taking up other activities that require utmost concentration.

    Avoid using Generic Arimidex if you have allergy to anastrozole. Breast-feeding and premenopausal women are not recommended to take the medication as well. The medication is not intended for men and children.

    Taking Generic Arimidex is associated with an increased probability of osteoporosis. To avoid it, have your bone mineral density tested prior and in the course of taking the medication.

  • Drug interactions

    Taking Generic Arimidex along with tamoxifen or an estrogen medication (birth control, creams, implants, vaginal rings, etc.) might reduce its effectiveness. Notify your doctor before starting the course if you are already using any of the abovementioned medications.

    Generic Arimidex may also interact with other medications.

  • Missed dose

    Avoid taking a double dose of Generic Arimidex. Make up for the missed dose if you have forgotten to take one, but only if there is still plenty of time left until the next scheduled one.
