Generic Paxil is prescribed for symptoms of depression, OCD (obsessive-compulsive disorder), PTSD (post-traumatic stress disorder), GAD (generalized anxiety disorder), panic disorder, PMDD (premenstrual dysphoric disorder) and social phobia/social anxiety disorder.

  • How to take

Generic Paxil is administered orally once per day, usually in the morning, during meals or otherwise. It can be taken in a different manner if prescribed by your medical specialist. The dosage is defined depending on your medical condition and response to treatment. Do not change the dosage or period of use without prior medical consult, even if the symptoms have subsided.

  • Side effects

Common side effects of taking Generic Paxil include: nausea, sleepiness, dizziness, troubled sleep, constipation or dry mouth. If any of these persist or become bothersome, contact your doctor.

Contact a medical specialist immediately if you experience any of the following: lack of appetite, mental changes, mood swings, heavy perspiration, tiredness, tremors, decreased sex desire, blurred vision, painful or prolonged erection, urination irregularities, loss of consciousness, uneven heartbeat, muscle pain, difficulty swallowing, swelling, seizures, increased bruising or bleeding, numb or tingling hands or feet.

If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies such as difficulty breathing, hives, rash, itching, swelling, severe dizziness, etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help (highly unlikely).

  • Precautions

Tell your doctor about your medical history, especially of the following diseases: liver or kidney disease, seizures, heart disorders, mental disorders (e.g. bipolar), thyroid disorders or allergies.

Generic Paxil may have a sleepy effect. Avoid driving and other activities that require mental alertness.

Limit alcohol consumption. Elderly patients should use the medication with caution, as they are more prone to side effects.

Pregnant women should use the medication only if clearly needed and after discussion of the possible side effects with their doctors. As the medication can pass into breast milk and has the potential to harm a nursing infant, it is not recommended to use Generic Paxil while breastfeeding.

  • Drug interactions
