    Diflucan (Fluconazole) is prescribed to fight off infections caused by mouth, throat, bladder, esophagus, lungs, blood and genitalia infections. Generic Diflucan is also used for prophylactic purposes to prevent fungal infections in patients with immune systems weakened by cancer treatments, transplant of bone marrow, AIDS and other diseases.

  • How to take

    Diflucan (Fluconazole) should be taken regularly during meals or otherwise, preferably at a predefined time. Do not stop taking the medication even if the symptoms you are suffering from have subdued. Wait for at least two hours after taking the medication before taking proton pump inhibitors.

  • Side effects

    If you experience any symptoms associated with allergies (highly unlikely) such as difficulty breathing, hives, swollen tongue etc., stop using the medication and seek urgent medical help.Common side effects of using Diflucan include dizziness, taste changes, headache, nausea, pain in the stomach.     Inform your doctor if you are taking any medications, especially: aldosterone blockers (eplerenone), amiodarone, cisapride, astemizole, pimozide, macrolide antibiotics (erythromycin), serotonin receptor agonists (eletriptan), terfenadine or quinolones, benzodiazepines (alprazolam), anticoagulants (warfarin), buspirone, cyclophosphamide, carbamazepine, ergot alkaloids (ergotamine), cyclosporine, haloperidol, HMG-CoA reductase inhibitors (simvastatin), methadone, hydantoins (phenytoin), muscarinic antagonists (solifenacin, tolterodine), ramelteon, narcotics (codeine), theophylline, sulfonylureas (glipizide), tricyclic antidepressants (amitriptyline), as combining them with Diflucan may increase the probability of its side effects. The medication may interact with other drugs as well. Dot not start or end the course of Diflucan without prior medical consult.

  • Missed dose
